Massage Tiverton

Here are a just a few frequently asked questions, please feel free to contact if the answer you are looking for is not here

  • Does Sports massage hurt?
Sports massage does not need to hurt to be effective. I will access your needs and put a bespoke treatment plan together for you which will incorporate various techniques which we will talk through together. When working I constantly access clients response to touch and perception of pain, adapting the depth of massage and any specifically tender areas accordingly. The does not mean I will not find the specific areas that need working on and with clients permission use relevant techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy etc to resolve issues. I do not work on a no pain no gain theory as this can do more damage than good. This can damaging the neurological response to touch and massage resulting in more muscle tension and pain. However I am happy to treat clients who prefer a firm deep tissue massage treatment.
  • What shall I wear?
Please wear loose fitting or easy to remove clothing to ensure maximum confort during your treatment. It's perfectly fine to wear loose fitting shorts if you are having a leg massage as it's very easy to work around them. However, it's entirely up to you and I can work around any clothing you choose to wear. If you are comfortable removing certain items of clothing, we will only have the area that we are working on exposed and use towels to cover any other exposed areas. My top priority is making sure you feel comfortable, respecting your privacy and personal boundaries so you feel completely at ease during your treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Which treatment Sports or Swedish massage, Deep tissue, myofascial release, injuries etc
I am more than happy for you to contact me with your requirement and I can help advise, which treatments would be suitable for your needs. At your first appointment I will do a thorough assessment of your requirements and preferences and build a bespoke treatment plan with you. I will explain the techniques and treatments I am going to use. If you have had massage before especially Sports massage you will probably know that as the treatment progresses there maybe other things that I discover that would also benefit from treatment, if time allows will incorporate this into the current session or a follow up treatment. I will evaluate the treatments for every session and amend and change this for your requirements.
