The subjects in this module will enable me to build on my knowledge and experience.
Biopsychosocial model of pain and person-centred care
This approach to pain considers all areas systematically this includes biological, psychological, and social/environmental factors and their combined interactions when understanding soft tissue dysfunction, pain, health, illness and delivering appropriate treatment plan
Pain Science for Sports massage and soft tissue therapy
Pain is the response to a complex of processes influenced by
physical, neuropathic, nociceptive and psychological factors, environmental and social elements also need to be considered. Pain is a very individual experience, we all feel and think about pain in different ways and only the person experiencing pain can truly know how they feel at any given time
I have personal experience with persistent chronic which is why I qualified as a therapist making the module above of special interest. I understand the factors that effect pain and have been able to overcome my pain myself, I aim to help others in the same situation. Find my story here
Functional anatomy
I already have my level 4 anatomy and physiology qualifications with my VCTC course and am really looking forward to expanding my knowledge in functional anatomy.
This is a physical/practical study of how the muscles and body work together to perform a movement of the both somatic nervous system (under conscious or voluntary control) i.e. performing an exercise like walking and the autonomic nervous system (involuntary or automatic) i.e. breathing or heart beat.
This includes every part of our system, skeletal, articular, muscular, nervous, and circulatory and will also include gait analysis which I am really looking forward to being able to offer as part of my consultation process.
